And So It Begins… Is It Evil?: Weekly Edition Volume 1 Recap 2019

Well, this is a first for me. Hold on to your seat things may get a bit bumpy. It’s time for the first ever Is It Evil? Weekly Edition.

EvilBob: Ah, there’s nothing like a last minute article to get your creative juices flowing.

Ry: So you’re procrastinating? Again?

EvilBob: Why are you here? This is supposed to be my article.

Ry: Not anymore. You’ve proven you need, supervision to do things properly.

EvilBob: Wait, what? Did Voyager send you?

Ry: Wouldn’t you like to know.

EvilBob: Anyway, my brother aside things are gonna be a little different this season.

Ry: Yeah, with me around his ratings will skyrocket.

EvilBob: This season I have a lot of anime on the same day. So, I decided without any of Voyager’s encouragement to try things in his style. Well, sort of.

Ry: That’s a bald-faced lie and you know it.

EvilBob: Stop That! You’re ruining my opening.

Ry: Okay, I’ll stop. For now at least.

EvilBob: I don’t like the way you said that but good. So, first up the TKO Recaps.

TKO Recaps

EvilBob: This time I can’t lose. I have at least two really good shows to his one Mob what could possibly go wrong?

Ry: I don’t know how about another soul-crushing defeat?

EvilBob: It was rigged! Rigged I tell you rigged!

Ry: Sure, just keep telling yourself that. Who knows one day it might be true.

EvilBob: Really?

Ry: No.

EvilBob: The first on the list is The Promised Neverland.

Ry: Oh look he’s defeated already.

EvilBob: …

The Promised Neverland

EvilBob: So, Ema and company have begun planning their escape all while trying to avoid their mother who is actively searching for the ones that broke the rules.

Ry: Cue creepy music here.

EvilBob: Unfortunately, for the children, it seems that the mother knows full well who broke the rules. I think the only reason she hasn’t made a move yet is that for the moment she can’t prove anything. To make matters worse she has a tracker disguised as a pocket watch or does she? I think it might’ve been a bluff. I think she already knew where that missing girl was and used it as an excuse to frighten Ema and Norman to make them second guess their plans.

Ry: You know it could just be a tracker right?

EvilBob: It could be, but with what we’ve seen I have no reason to believe it. I mean she called for back up when the first plan didn’t work. I think her name was Sister Krone?

Ry: Yeah, things are looking bad for the kids.

EvilBob: I’m dreading what might happen to the kids as this show progresses. I mean the first child died in the first episode. If they had the balls to do that I’m afraid of what they might end up doing.

Ry: I have a prediction!

EvilBob: What’s that?

Ry: Someone’s gonna die.

EvilBob: Gee I wonder what gave you that idea? Anyway, next on the list is… Dororo.

Dororo (2019)

EvilBob: Hyakkimaru continues his quest to regain what he’s lost but what will be the price? Oh, and we got a lot more on the monk. Also, I thought that they already knew each other that seems to be wrong. I guess my assumption about Hyakkimaru learning how to fight demons was off too.

Ry: What? you were wrong about something? How Shocking.

EvilBob: Anyway, the whole episode revolved around a village that was sacrificing travelers to a demon to save the town. So, normal demon stuff.

Ry: Why do demons love small towns so much?

EvilBob: Country food?

Ry: Bob! Too soon!

EvilBob: Also I can’t bring myself to trust the monk. There’s just something about him I don’t like.

EvilBob: It might be that he seems to enjoy the demon-killing a little too much. And then there’s Dororo herself. I really love her so far she’s fun.

Ry: Wait isn’t Dororo a boy?

EvilBob: No. The original aired in 1969 and revealed all of that before.

Ry: Well, okay then. So, what’s next?

EvilBob: next is Boogiepop and Others…

Boogiepop and Others  (2019)

EvilBob: Gotta be honest here I have no Idea what to make of this show still.

Ry: Yeah, it’s just so weird. Aliens, Manticores…

EvilBob: An Imagination?

Ry: Whatever that’s supposed to be.

EvilBob: I think part of the problem is that the events of the show seem to be disconnected from one another. And it seems someone took the entire story, cut it into pieces and threw them into the air and stuck them together in the order that they landed. It doesn’t seem well thought out and it’s not easy to follow.

Ry: Yeah, it’s really weird.

EvilBob: But I do have to give them credit. It’s pretty creative and when things do start to make sense it’s pretty good but it does seem to take a while before that happens.

Ry: At least it has some interesting action.

EvilBob: It’s better than the last one. But that’s not saying much.

Grimms Notes The Animation

EvilBob: This show has an interesting premise. All the stories that have ever been written exist in a single world and they are all in danger. Chaos Tellers are destroying the stories and turning all of the people in them into villains. Also, the main characters are on a quest to stop them for some reason and they have to power to transform into other characters from the stories.

Ry: I have so many questions.

EvilBob: I know right? Like why are these four heroes even doing this? Aside from the world ending threat what motivates them? We’ve gotten next to no character development out of them. I know it’s only been two episodes but even Boogiepop and Others developed its characters during the first episode.

Ry: Wow, Bob seems to be pretty upset.

EvilBob: Shut up. I do have to give it credit for something though.

Ry: And what’s that?

EvilBob: The Chaos Tellers are pretty cool. This episode was about Don Quixote. If you’re having trouble remembering that story it’s about a knight who attacks a windmill. In the original story, Don Quixote mistook it for a demon. In this version, it was one.

Ry: Yeah, that was pretty cool. But that fight was horrendous.

EvilBob: It looked like the whole thing was in slowed down so the player could input commands. Hopefully, that won’t be the case for every big enemy they have to fight but it was a bit concerning.

Non TKO Recaps

EvilBob: Well, that all of the ones in TKO.

Ry: So, JoJo’s is next right?

EvilBob: Yes, And boy do we have a lot to talk about.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

EvilBob: I have to get one thing out of the way. Mista isn’t human. I don’t care how good you’re stand is at deflecting bullets there is no way he avoided brain damage from three point-blank shots to the skull.

Ry: Wait for it.

EvilBob: But it was just so amazingly dumb that I don’t care. I think the only thing I didn’t like is that he wasn’t able to beat one of the other guys before he went down.

Ry: And don’t forget about Bucciarati.

EvilBob: What is it with these guys? Everyone on Bucciarati’s team is willing to make sacrifice plays like their nothing.

Ry: They’re JoJo’s characters?

EvilBob: Point. But still, I think throwing yourself out of a moving train is a little much.

Is It Evil Ratings

EvilBob: Well, that was a thing. That is a lot of words.

Ry: So go on do the thing

EvilBob: Okay, So I guess we’ll start with The Promised Neverland?

Ry: Yeah, that works.

EvilBob: So I’d say the second episode is about as Evil as a Super Villian! (10). What did you think about it?

Ry: I agree with this rating. Well ok, next up is… Dororo (2019).

EvilBob: Yeah this show has been pretty fun too. I might be a bit biased because of my red neck lineage but I’d say this episode was about as Evil as a Super Villian! (10).

Ry: Yeah, I agree with this one too the story is very intriguing. Next is Boogiepop and Others  (2019)

EvilBob: This one’s a bit harder for me to rate. I have the feeling that this one needs to be binged to make more sense out of it. If not the entire show at least watching it an arc at a time. But this last episode I’d say is about as Evil as a Killer Robot Army (8).

Ry: I guess that works. Next

EvilBob: Do you need coffee?

Ry: Do you need me to slap you?

EvilBob: Right, next is Grimms Notes The Animation. I’d say that this one is pretty straight forward. I’d say This episode was about as Evil as Politician (7).

Ry: This show is a strange one, but I did love the retelling of the old knight and the windmill with it being an actual monster. So yeah I agree with the rating.

EvilBob: And now for JoJo’s. God, I love this dumb show. I think it goes beyond saying at this point but I’d say this episode is about as Evil as Super Villian! (10).

Ry: Poor Mista, yeah still agree with it, but I hate the fact they might have killed off someone already.

EvilBob: They didn’t, His stand is still around so there’s a chance he’ll be alright. Now all I have to do is win this seasons TKO and I’ll be fine.

Ry: Why do you want to win it so badly?

EvilBob: Because it’s not about me anymore. Riley is counting on me this time. I will regain the lost honor and get my revenge on Voyager if it’s the last thing I do.

Ry: Okay then?

EvilBob: Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Ry: And keep it classy,
