Why can’t this show just be consistent? How Evil are Hakyu Hoshin Engi’s 13th and 14th episodes?

Well, this first episode should be relatively quick. We got another future flash but this time it was an entire episode. Why did they choose to do this to us? Because they wanted to recap all the events that have happened so far. Look I’m fine with recap episodes when they’re entertaining. But this episode was a chore to watch.

When you do a recap it’s supposed to make sense with what is already happening in the show. They dragged us into a place the show hasn’t even gotten to. It’s still heading to that point. I would say this episode is the prime of example of what not to do in a recap episode. For a good example of what to do, check out My Hero Academia 3.

That’s nice, Taikoubou.

Episode 14 was much better. It brought us back to the present were a parasite is affecting all but two of Taikoubou’s allies. If you haven’t been watching, Youzen got infected with this thing in the last episode. And it just so happens even Taikoubou has it now. Given the dire situation, it seems that Nataku is going to have to step up a lot in the coming episodes.

If you forgot who Nataku is, he’s the human weapon that only fights the strong. Well, at least according to this episode’s intro. Anyway back to the parasite. It seems even more like a bad idea to ram two flying fortresses together, seeing how one is infested with a killer parasite. And we finally get to see how it looks.

So, it’s a tick with a yin-yang symbol its head? It also only infects immortals, so Nataku is immune as well as any humans traveling with Taikoubou. The more I learn about the parasite, the more useless it seems. Oh and the immortals can take a drug to maintain fifty percent of their power even when infected.

It may seem like a lot but the “good guys” were already weaker than their enemies. Power isn’t the problem but I’m sure they’ll learn that after they’ve been beaten. We should find out soon if it makes a difference with Youzen charging ahead against the bat guy that started the outbreak.

Overall, I’d say episode thirteen was about as Evil as a Superhero! (0). I can’t begin to explain how much of a headache it was. That being said episode fourteen was about as Evil as a Politician (7). It was a lot more tolerable than whatever thirteen was trying to do. If you want something that’s far less of a headache I would suggest that you check out CVoyage’s reviews for Black Clover. It’s far more tolerable than this show.
