Magical Girl Ore – Episodes 8 – 9 Recap (Is It Evil?)

The love triangle levels up and we have two more magical girls, awesome. How Evil are the 8th and 9th episodes of Magical Girl Ore?

Magical Girl Ore
Studio: Pierrot Plus
Genre: Magic, Comedy

A lot of things happened this time around and I’m not even sure what I think about the events so far. This show can be obnoxious with some of the things it does. For instance, adding two more connections to a love triangle isn’t exactly something I particularly enjoy, but I don’t mind the way this show has handled it’s love situation so far. It did get me a little more than nervous with that move though.

Anyway, episode 8 involved Saki’s mom giving up on being a magical entirely. With Saki losing her weapon in the last episode it was only a matter of time before her mom gave her the one she used. While we’re on the subject of Saki’s mom can I just point out how strong the lady was even out of her transformation? She blew away three security guys by waving a hand and she was sick when she did that and what was with that ending? She got taken up into the sky by an angelic figure almost like she just died…

Strangely enough, we haven’t seen her again either, she wasn’t even in episode 9. Episode 9 was mostly about PRISMA. If you haven’t been watching the show PRISMA is a duo of girls from a rival Idol company that is losing the popularity battle with the main heroes.  Their audience has started to shrink which is putting the pressure on them to either retire or find a way to counter the main characters.

The PRISMA girls, Michiru and Ruka are absolutely hilarious. when they learn that the magical girls are winning the popularity contest they automatically decide that they either need to retire or become magical girls themselves. And right after that, they get approached by someone who is looking to recruit some magical girls. After the guy tells them exactly what they want to hear Michiru seems to buy it wholeheartedly.

There is one catch though. Only Ruka has enough love power to maintain her transformation, Michiru’s transformation uses half the love power but she’s constantly aging in her transformation. Even with that downside, this newly powered team does manage to do a few heroic deads until the day they fight actual demons.

They do a good job fighting off demons for 1st timers but they’re not experienced enough to keep it up and end up losing their magical forms and that’s when our heroes come in. Saki and Sakuyo end up saving the noobs and teaching them how to keep their power levels up. Unfortunately, while all of this is going on the demons fuse into a giant kaiju in order to kill them all.  The girls end up focusing the power of their love in order to vaporize the demon.

Overall I’d say these episodes are about as Evil as a Politician (7). It’s just as much dumb fun as ever. If you rather watch something that’s less of a comedy check out CVoyage’s reviews for Toji no Miko. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Mahou Shoujo Ore is Simulcast on Crunchyroll, Mondays at 10:00am EST.

Keep It Classy,
