FullMetal Alchemist Live Action Film Announces Netflix Premiere Date

Not going to lie, I’m holding back my inner fanboy right now.

I’m a huge fan of both FullMetal Alchemist series. They both have things they do better than the other so I won’t go into which one is better. That being said, I personally enjoyed how streamlined Brotherhood was and I can only hope that this movie will be just as fluid. If you watched the trailer it looks like they are leaning more towards Brotherhood.

The thing that gets me a little worried about the movie is the shortest of the two series is 72 episodes long. Films can’t cover all of that material. From what I’ve read, this isn’t going to be a movie series like the Rurouni Kenshin films. If this was the first of five or even three, I’d be on board with it all the way. This is one of those anime that asks the question, “What is a human life worth?” It also goes into why mankind shouldn’t play god, among other things.

Alright, there is one thing people can’t seem to get over and I need more words so here it goes. The setting for this world is European. The cast is Japanese. Look I don’t care which side you’re on with this. The argument is just stupid. Did I want them to cast a European for Edward? Yes, I did, but I’ll take what I can get at this point. As long as he’s got the chops I’m okay with it.

Regardless of my personal stance on adaptations, this movie looks like it’ll be fun at the very least. I’m hoping this film we be another good one, but I’m going in with low expectations. If it manages to be fun, I’ll start wanting more. We don’t have much longer to wait. It will premiere on Netflix February 19. If you want something thought-provoking to watch in the meantime, check out Made in Abyss. I recapped the entire first season not too long ago. Be warned, despite how cute it looks it’s not for children.

Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
