Mahoutsukai No Yome – Episode 12 Recap (Is It Evil?)

I don’t have any way to describe this other than… “cool.” How evil is  Mahoutsukai No Yome episode 12?

Again this show’s animation wows me. It was one of the reasons I started watching it in the first place and I have yet to be disappointed by it. This episode started with Elias feeling… lonely? It’s really hard to tell him sometimes. He couldn’t bring himself to do anything while Chise was away. Maybe he was just worried about the college. Or he could finally be developing the emotions he’s been missing. Either way, it’s an interesting event.

After Elias’s little segment, we got back to Chise’s wand-building. Surprise. It’s carved and it just happens to look like a bird. It’s a nice touch, seeing how one of her nicknames is Robin. When Lindel finishes the staff, it turns red too. When she grabs it, she enters a dreamlike state where she talks to the old dragon from before. He chats with her about how she never looks happy and something seems to click for Chise. From that moment forward she is usually wearing a smile. Anyway, she tries to use her wand to teleport to Elias, but it doesn’t go quite like she planned

This looks cool, right? Well, the end of this spell turns Chise into a freaking Phoenix. It gets better. She flew into low orbit apparently. All this from using her wand… once, without training with it at all. It was pretty to look at too, if you want to see it you should go watch it. It looks way better in motion. Oh, I almost forgot. Lindel was just as floored as I was by the transformation. He sat on the ground in awe. Lindel is Elias’s master. For him to be in awe means something.

When Chise got home, she landed on Elias’s arms. It was another one of those adorable moments that made me say “Awww.” There was another shocking moment during that scene too. Elias hugged Chise and welcomed her back. So, he did miss her. The episode ended with what I would call a family dinner. It’s fitting for this series so far.

I would say this episode was about as evil as a Super Villain! This show remains solid even after so many have failed this season. If you like anime that make you think “What The Heck Did I Just Watch?” check out Chris’s reviews of  Anime Gataris.

Well, That’s all I have for you today. Thank’s for letting me waste your time, people.
