Mahoutsukai No Yome – Episode 9 Recap (Is It Evil?)

Well, that was a lot to take in. How evil is Mahoutsukai no Yome episode 9?

Mahoutsukai no Yome
Studio: Wit Studio
Genre: Drama, Romance, Magic

This episode started two weeks after the last one.  Elias’s battle form caused him to remain locked in his room for the entire time. I guess when you have a battle form, it takes a while to recover after using it. Chise chooses not to enter his room and then she gets kicked out of the house and is given instructions not to return until night time. I thought that was a little strange but whatever.

Upon starting her trip to town, Chise runs into an all too familiar face. Angelica is back. She and Chise shared some time together and just like last time, Angelica’s “Mom mode” kicked in. Angelica scolds Chise about her reckless use of magic, last episode, and set her right on a few things.

Chise returned home after a long day out with Angelica and buying snacks for everyone with the money she was given. This is when things got, interesting. Chise entered Elias room. Apparently, the “landlady,” as Elias calls her, grabbed a hammer and stood outside just in case.

I don’t think the hammer was to be used on Chise. Upon entering the room, Chise quickly discovers what Elias has been trying to hide. He can’t control his body or its form. He even says as much after he swipes her off her feet. He looks like a… he’s got. Screw it. When we finally get a look at him, we can barely see it.

As you can hardly make out, he’s huge. I guess we can call this his feral form? He seems to be able to control it enough not to hurt Chise, so maybe he really does care about her in a way he’s not aware of?  Chise ends up spending the night with him while he’s like this. So yeah, she’s basically one of the bravest women in anime. When she wakes up, Elias is gone. But he left a letter.

Chise freaks out and begins searching for him. She goes everywhere with Ruth’s nose aiding her. After visiting every place she could think of, Ruth and Chise run into an old man and a rose garden. They learn that a vampire is a sort of haunting the him. I say “haunting,” but she’s really just in love with him.  In fact, this vampire in combination with Ruth helps Chise realize she loves Elias.

When Chise finally found Elias he got the scolding of his life. Chise’s concern for Elias got him to promise to tell her more about himself but Chise was kind of pissed at him even after the promise. Chise is pretty adorable when she is pissed.  Their spat got interrupted by another dragon so, we know who’s coming back next episode.

I would say this episode was about as evil as a Super Villain! Even with all this stuff in a single episode, it was still good without being muddied up. Speaking of good anime, we’re sure covering a lot of them, this season. Aaand some… not-so-good ones. Why not you check some of those out in Flash Anime-tion to see what I mean? If you don’t…

Chise won’t be happy!

Well, That’s all I have for you today. Thank’s for letting me waste your time, people.

Keep It Classy,
