Tokyo Ghoul:re – Episodes 3 – 4 Recap (Is It Evil?)

So, Kaneki can crossdress with the best of them. I doubt the Doves taught him that. How Evil is Tokyo Ghoul:re‘s third and fourth episodes?

Tokyo Ghoul:re
Studio: Pierrot
Genre: Action, Drama, Horror, Supernatural

Episode three started with Quinx Squad still hunting down that ghoul that works in the redlight district. Although it seems she isn’t the main target. The CCG is more interested in taking down a human auction. I don’t think I need to spell out what exactly the auction is like. Quinx Squad goes undercover in their soft target’s territory, disguised as women… Kaneki pulls it off way too well but it doesn’t last long because their cover is almost blown when one of the squad members gets drunk.

After the undercover mission, Kaneki trains the team. It’s not exactly training from hell but he is fighting three of them at once and owning them.  It’s all done in a montage to save time but nothing really happens after it’s done. We did get a look at where the auction is going to be taking place and we can see some familiar faces among the ghouls.

Episode four started with one of the squad members waking up in a box headed for the auction. It’s revealed in a brief flashback that she got into their target’s car and was then gassed, along with a returning cast member I’ll mention in a bit. The Quinx Squad member gets mistaken for a one-eyed ghoul and is sold at the outrageous price of 200 million yen (just under 2 million, USD).

Anyway, the next person for sale was… Stitches! If you don’t know who I’m talking about, you need to go rewatch the second season. Anyway, Stitches goes on his usual killing spree, throwing knives into any unsuspecting ghouls from a new prosthetic leg. And then he spots his old owner. I feel like he’s going to have words with her, next episode.

All that was just the start of the chaos. Once Stitches started to do his thing the rest of the doves descended upon the ghouls. Of course, the ghouls had a backup plan as well. So this mission just became a massive battle. The episode cuts as more ghoul reinforcements are sent in. I’m guessing this will go on for at least one more episode.

Oh, the member who got sold managed to evade her captors too. She did get stabbed in the process, but she can’t use her powers yet. Overall I’d say these episodes are about as Evil as Killer Robot Army (8). It’s an enjoyable experience so far. If romance is more your thing check out CVoyage’s reviews for 3D Kanojo: Real Girl. It does sound a little safer than where this series might go. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
