The great thing about anime is being able to see all sorts of different quirky characters in amazing settings. Be it the troublemaker ninja that dreams of becoming Hokage, to the cry-baby girl who meets a talking black cat that changes her life forever, you can count on anime to have something for just about anyone. You can have very outgoing characters who never hesitate to jump into a dangerous situation or the coward character that would much rather run away when someone gives them the wrong look. At the end of the day the outgoing character and the coward can end up going down the same path without a second thought because they share a common goal. Which usually consists in the survival of themselves or someone they care about.
When they first premiered around the same time in 2015, both anime looked like they may as well be blatant copies of one another (actually, there was apparently another one that also released around the exact same time that was incredibly similar, but I missed that one). While they diverged into different enough directions to each be recognized as their own entities, the similarities between the two are still noteworthy. So now we ask the age old question – Who wore it better? Two anime enter, one anime leaves. This is a Flash Anime-tion Clash. Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry versus Gakusen Toshi Asterisk.
*glances back over Flip Flappers* Yep. I’ve definitely covered weirder. Let’s do this.
…What the devil did I just watch?
…Well, holy crap.
Quick preface. Before anyone thinks I’m about to, in any way, bash Pokemon, I would like to remind you that Pokemon is my favorite property. All of it. Including the subject of this heavy-hearted article – the anime. Unfortunately, I feel that words need saying. Words both critical of the series itself, and those who I personally believe are criticizing the wrong things about it. So fair warning, everyone, this is gonna be pretty lengthy.
