This was even better than I thought it would be. Birthday shenanigans, just one click of the mouse away.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2 (Episode 2)
Studio(s): A-1 Pictures
Genre(s): Comedy, Psychological, Romance, School, Seinen
This might just might be one of my favorite episodes. Kaguya and her antics to get Miyuki to confess to her are just so outlandish that I didn’t think she could top herself from the last season. I’m was so wrong. This entire episode was all about getting Miyuki a birthday present with Kaguya’s attempts going south with almost every turn. She tried handing out with his sister to ask her about what kind of gifts he might like only to find out that his family doesn’t give gifts for any occasion. Which bummed her out so she asked her maid and that had mixed results too.

I like that Kaguya decided to go with a more personalized gift instead. Even Miyuki thought it was cool. In fact, he tried to hide it from Chika. That never goes well. Of course, that leads to Kaguya’s plot of getting Chika to spin the whole thing as a romantic birthday celebration. They really need to stop doing that with her. Using someone like that just isn’t right. Anyway, the plan was working in Kaguya’s favor until Miyuki successfully countered it with his own brand of twisted logic, setting off Chika against Kaguya instead.

And here comes the part that broke me. Yuu showed up just in time to stop all the nonsense. Unfortunately, the way he handled it made Chika out to be sort of the bad guy in the situation. And she ran out crying. Look, I don’t care who you are, Chika crying is a soul-rending experience and I felt bad for laughing at it (Voyager: Soul?) …Okay, anyone but him . Overall it’s as fun and hilarious as ever but I don’t want to see Chika cry ever again. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time. And please check out Burning Sky if you get the chance. Keep It Classy.
