A Month of Festivities and Fear (Also 300 Followers! Woo!) | State of the Site

It’s the spoopiest month of the year. And you know what that means! It’s gonna start getting colder! Aaaaaaah!

Oh, but I kid. Hello, internet! October is now upon us and, with its arrival, come some really fun updates from your truly. We’re a bit early, but there were some announcements that warranted it. You’re welcome! There’s not a whole lot of massive movement going on as it pertains to the stuff we revealed, last month. But there are some fun things going on. So let’s talk about ’em.

Burning Sky

So! The first thing we’ve gotta talk about is actually pretty minor. As you all know, by now, we’re working on a web novel project called Burning Sky. Last time I noted that our site was going to start putting seasonal anime coverage on the back burner to focus on it and our other ongoing original project, Bulletoon. I stated that we’d be doing some fun stuff to promote the project in the coming months and we’re right around the corner to starting that up. We’ve been getting together our resources to get you guys more pumped about the project. So just a little longer and we’ll have some really cool stuff to start showing you guys! I’d say you might even be able to expect some teases as early as this month.

Villains’ Month

Speaking of Bulletoon, I think it’s safe to say that this iteration of the show has been the best yet because it’s let us talk about… well… what we want to talk about. And that’s been storytelling, characters, hidden themes, the works. As I already mentioned, it’s October. The month of Fear. Ghastly Ghouls and Terrifying Tales. The scariest part of any story should, in theory, be its villain, right? So, starting with the second week of October (we still have one more episode due this weekend), welcome to Villains’ Month! Three episodes of the show, each featuring a look at one of our favorite villains. In fact, anyone who didn’t get their Soul Eater fix over the Summer might just be in for a bit of a surprise. It’s going to be a Frighteningly Good Time. Stay Toon’d!

THIS! IS! AWESOME! Whoo! We hit 300 followers, the other day! Never really got to celebrate, though. Not quite sure how I think we should. But I think it might be cool to do another Q&A! A lot’s happened since the last one, so some fresh questions should come up! So! Just like last time, I’ll let you guys leave your questions in the comments or send them to me directly through our contact application or on Twitter! They can be about almost anything! And you’re not even limited to one! Got some questions about Burning Sky? Let it rip! Wanna ask us stuff about your/our favorite anime? All for it! General blogging questions? We’re pretty bad at this, but we’ll try our darnedest! Just about anything goes, so let’s hear what you have to ask!

#theAnimangaFestival

Last, but certainly not least, we have a special announcement! We (meaning I) are going to be participating in a community event called #theAnimangaFestival, set up by Auri and Nairne (Manga Toritsukareru Koto)! And it’s exactly what it says on the tin! A festival celebrating our inner weeb as we all nerd out about our favorite anime, manga, webcomics, games, etc.!

You can learn more about the event in the official brochure, HERE.

Despite my having been doing this for something like 3 years, taking any of this as the concept of a community is something I’ve only begun doing fairly recently. So I’ve missed out on a lot of opportunities to meet and interact with some pretty cool people whose work I’ve quietly followed, for a large portion of that time. And this is me taking a vested interest in correcting that issue!

And the best part is that you don’t even have to be part of the blogosphere or… vlogosphere? You can also participate on Twitter!

So what does this festival entail?

Booths with games and plush toys and foo- oh. Internet. Right. Uh… writing prompts and games! Other stuff too, of course. As per the brochure I’ve linked to you guys.

What are you contributing?

My sparkling personality! Duh! Okay, also posts for some of the writing prompts and open days. In total, I’m slated for 4 posts throughout the course of the event meant exclusively for the event.

[PROMPT: Anime/Manga You’d Introduce to a First Timer] Beginning Your Anime Adventure w/ Magi!

[PROMPT: Trip Itinerary to Places You’d Like to Visit in Anime/Manga] A Trip to Mars w/ Carole & Tuesday

[PROMPT: Collection of Your Best Works] World’s Finest Blog Posts? Well, Ours Anyway

[PROMPT: A Crossover You’d Like to See]A Clash of Creativity in
Kyousougiga and Flip Flappers?

I’m also signed up to participate in the Word Chain game! So that should be pretty cool! And last, but not least, I’m going to be closing out the event with the final episode of Villains’ Month, for Bulletoon!

There are lots of other prompts, games, and activities and a lot of participants! So I hope you’ll stop on by and have fun with it! I’ll be sure to keep an eye on the Twitters and such too with #theAnimangaFestival! That way I get to see what everyone else is up to! You should do the same!

Other Stuff!

Nothing to report, really! The finale of the Anime TKO will be out later today or tomorrow and that’ll be all she wrote! We’ll likely do a list of our confirmed seasonal pick-ups and whatnot within the next couple days. So you have that to look forward to. We’ll also be doing some minor tweaking to the homepage to make navigation a bit easier. But yeah! That’s it! Really minor stuff, all things considered.

Conclusion

And hey! That’s that! A pretty beefy post with some pretty cool updates and announcements! All right! Time to sign off, for now! Busy busy busy! Remember! Send those Q&A questions however ya like or just drop a comment to say hi! I don’t bite! Bob might, though. Still gotta take him to get his shots… Anyway! Keep up the Awesome! Later days!
