Well, this week was a thing. I wasn’t expecting to laugh or cry that hard.

EvilBob: What the heck happened? Dororo was funny this week and every other show was awesome.

Ry: A comedy talent show or something?

EvilBob: I’m pretty sure that wasn’t it.

Ry: Well, let’s do this thing.

One-Punch Man 2 Episode 7

EvilBob: Not going to lie, seeing Garou get interrupted was hilarious.

Ry: Totally ruined the mood for hero hunting.

EvilBob: I was looking forward to him fighting another S-Rank hero, but this was funny so I’m okay with it.

Ry: Meanwhile at the tournament, Saitama is doing his thing. You know. One-shotting everyone.

EvilBob: At least he’s still living up to his name. I do like how they aren’t focusing on the tournament. They know we already know who’s gonna win this thing.

Ry: The monsters have now unleashed the bulk of their army. Things are looking grim until…

EvilBob: The S Class heroes show up.

Ry: The slaughter of the monsters has begun and we’re treated to just a ton of monster corpses.

EvilBob: Then we have that talk with the swordmasters and one of the baddies trying to convince them to become monsters. Of course, Atomic Samurai handled that without a problem. But now he’s got his sights set on the monsters behind the attacks.

Ry: Back in the tournament, Saitama has punched his way straight to the finales. He now faces One-Kick Man, who hits him with literally everything he has but in the end it didn’t even matter.

EvilBob: Saitama may have been disqualified, but he won the fight. He even told his opponent to stop getting stronger if he’s fighting for fun.

Ry: I found it funny how the heroes that met Saitama before didn’t recognize him until the wig fell off.

EvilBob: Yeah, that was just a little silly. Overall, this was a fun episode. I’d say it’s about as Evil as a Villain! (9).

Fruits Basket (2019) Episode 7

EvilBob: A lot happened, this episode. Sort of. We got some major backstory from Hatori and boy was that tragic.

Ry: Tohru was brought to the Soma Estate and things were looking suspiciously grim.

EvilBob: For a place that houses over one hundred people, it seemed pretty deserted. Until they got to Hatori’s place, it seemed like a ghost town.

Ry:  Hatori seems to be cold toward Tohru at first, even telling her to leave at one point.

EvilBob: There’s actually a really sad reason behind why he does things like this. He’s not trying to hurt Tohru, he’s trying to protect her.

Ry: Hatori has a messed up past in which he and his girlfriend, Kana were not allowed to marry. To make matters worse Akito assaulted them and jacked up one of Hatori’s eyes in the process. Thinking this was her fault somehow, Kana began to lose her sanity.

EvilBob: Wanting to end her suffering, Hatori did the only thing he could. He erased her memories of their relationship. She eventually found someone else, but Hatori is worried that the same thing might happen to Tohru. He’s just protecting that adorable smile.

Ry: Shigure and Hatori apparently are somewhat friendly to each other.

EvilBob: I think Hatori only tolerates Shigure. He seemed very uneasy around him. Of course, the accusations didn’t make it easier.

Ry: You know they have to be BFFs just like Momiji said. I mean, just look at that face of acknowledgment when Tohru mentions it.

EvilBob: He looks like he’s about to kill someone.

Ry: That’s what acceptance looks like – anger with a hint of murder.

EvilBob: And then we have his glorious…

Ry: Dragon, dragon, rock the dragon-

EvilBob: Seahorse form…

Ry: …Really?

EvilBob: Yeah. I was hoping for a dragon but, to be fair, it does look like a baby dragon.

Voyager: Ahem. This is actually a tie-in to certain eastern mythologies in which sea horses are literally baby dragons. So it’s not just “looks like.” There’s a cosmological reason for it.

Ry: So after Puff the Magic Seahorse transforms, Tohru has a funny little freakout that mirrored Kana’s freakout when she first found out.

EvilBob: Yeah that was hilariously cute. Overall, it was an amazing episode. I’d say it’s about as Evil as a Super Villain! (10).

Dororo (2019) Episode 19

EvilBob: Why was this episode so funny and why didn’t they do this before?

Ry: I have no Idea, but if the entire show was like this, Dororo might have possibly one of the greatest anime of all time.

EvilBob: Let’s not get crazy. Sure we would enjoy it more, but that doesn’t mean it’d be that much better (just ask Voyager). Anyway, the adventure, this time, started with Hyakkimaru and Dororo looking for a swordsmith to fix his blades.

Ry: After talking to people in a town. They find that the townsfolk seem to have a problem with telling the truth. When asking about this great smith, the townsfolk say he’s terrible and he has an ugly daughter.

EvilBob: But, when they arrive at the smith’s home, everything they’ve been told was a lie. The smith’s daughter is beautiful and he’s a master smith. The smith even agrees to reforge Hyakkimaru’s blades.

Ry: Things stay normal-ish for a bit. Then they take the blades to the shrine for purification and that’s when it gets weird again. Apparently a ghoul was responsible for all the lying in the town and it now affects Dororo and Hyakkimaru, which leads to some major misunderstandings between the two.

EvilBob: Like Hyakkimaru agreeing to marry the smith’s daughter. Dororo was thrilled by that one.

Ry: Essentially, the thing makes them say the opposite of what they mean. Later, when they confront the thing, it’s found that it can make them turn on each other as well.

EvilBob: It made Hyakkimaru strangle Dororo. Hyakkimaru couldn’t stop himself either. All he could do was watch himself choke her.

Ry: Before Hyakkimaru could do any permanent harm, the blacksmith knocks out the ghoul with a strike to its head.

EvilBob: For once, Hyakkimaru was the one that needed to be saved. With the ghoul dealt with, the entire village went back to normal without the lying thing.

Ry: After the brief battle, the smith’s daughter realizes that the wedding was not what Hyakkimaru wanted. Now understanding that the ghoul was responsible for it, the wedding was called off.

EvilBob: There was still a wedding though. One of the villagers was finally able to confess his love for the smith’s daughter which took even her by surprise.

Ry: She was as red as a stop sign. Hyakkimaru and Dororo soon left the village to continue their journey.

EvilBob: That part was just adorable. Overall, this might just be the most enjoyable episode of Dororo so far. I’d say it’s about as Evil as a Super Villian! (10).

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind Episode 31

EvilBob: The mad doctor and his deranged human pet are finally starting to go down.

Ry: Bucciarati faces off with dog guy, Secco, only to find that dog guy is much faster than he originally thought. He has so much speed, he’s overwhelming him at every turn.

EvilBob: Bucciarati was pulling out every trick he had too. Nothing he did was working. Then we have Mista and Giorno’s battle with Cioccolata. Mista had the idea to just attack the guy from a distance, but that didn’t work out the way he wanted it too.

Ry: Cioccolata ambushed Mista’s bullets, killing all but one of them and effectively taking Mista out of the battle and forcing Giorno to fight him solo.

EvilBob: Giorno had another plan to deal with Cioccolata. He made plants grow inside of the chopper to try to trap or injure him. That didn’t work either.

Ry: The dreadful truth came to light once Giorno finally entered the chopper and was attacked by the several disembodied parts of Cioccolata.

EvilBob: Nope, not even gonna try to explain that. The barrage of body parts is more than Giorno can handle in such a cramped area and he promptly gets ejected from the chopper.

Ry: This happens a few times but, in the end, Giorno finally gets a few decent hits in and manages to escape the chopper.

EvilBob: With Cioccolata out of the chopper, Giorno offers him two ways to end the fight. The easy way where Giorno only knocks him out. And then there’s the hard way, which leads to a painful death. Guess which one Cioccolata chose.

Ry: Painful death of course. And boy was it. He was punched to a bloody pulp, fell 20 stories into a garbage truck, then the truck activated its compactor.

EvilBob: Yeah, that was brutal. But hey. The episode was great. I’d say it was about as Evil as Super Villian! (10).

Favorite Episodes

Hitori Bocchi’s Lifestyle & Magmel of the Sea Blue Episode 7

EvilBob: Nako you did this one to yourself. You’ve antagonized Aru so much that she’s been waiting for this moment.

Ry: Oh, what’s that? You can’t swim? *evil grin*

EvilBob: It’s unfortunate that Aru didn’t capitalize on the situation more than she did.

Ry: Unfortunately, it is what it is. Besides, she has a reputation to uphold.

EvilBob: Still, it was a fun episode. But the marshmallow scare in Magmel of The Sea Blue is pretty funny too.

Ry: Zero changing their diet to nothing but marshmallows because they were cheap was hilarious. Inyou’s reaction was great too.

EvilBob: I like how he got rid of them by feeding to the creatures they found. That’s one way to get rid of them.

 

Conclusion

EvilBob: Well, this has been a fun week.

Ry: It definitely has. So I guess it’s that time again?
