Let’s Try Something Different, This Time. One-Line Reviews! | Weekly Anime Redux

Right. I’m really lagging behind on a looot of work, given my personal schedule at the moment. So I figured I’d try something new. Time for another Lightning Round, but with a twist.

I’ll probably make a post in the next few days detailing exactly why I’ve been so busy outside of this. But what I’m gonna do for now is sort of gamify this post. I’m gonna try to sum up my thoughts on these episodes in just one sentence, each. Just one. Think of it as a One-Line Challenge, but for a review. Who knows. Maybe I’ll be able to come up with some amusing ones. Ready? Go!

ANIME TKO REVIEWS
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (Episode 7)

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari

The beginning of the waifu war is somehow less entertaining than I’d hoped, but still mildly amusing. Junk Food.

Mob Psycho 100 II (Episode 7)

Mob Psycho 100 II

…Mob wins. World’s Finest.

NON-TKO REVIEWS
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (Episode 7)

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai ZunousenKaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

I’m running out of ways to call this show “charmingly funny.” Junk Food.

Date A Live Ⅲ (Episode 7)

Date A Live Ⅲ

One of the best parts of the story, somewhat brought down by really lackluster animation. Junk Food.

Black Clover (Episode 71… have I really covered 71 episodes of this? Yeesh)

Black CloverBlack Clover

Color me surprised at this genuinely good bit of character establishment and development for both Noelle and Asta in one episode. Super Effective

Toaru Majutsu no Index III (Episode 20)

Toaru Majutsu no Index III

Touma v. Accelerator: Round II is the single moment of this arc I was looking forward to the absolute most and it delivered. World’s Finest.

OLDER ANIME REVIEWS
Noragami Aragoto (Episode 6)

A both heartbreaking and cathartic conclusion to a very dire arc.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Overall Episode Medalists

Date A Live Ⅲ, Black Clover, Toaru Majutsu no Index III

I’m certain this comes as a surprise to no one. Like I said, the rematch between Touma and a leveled-up Accelerator was a major driving force behind my sticking with this otherwise very lukewarm season of the series. And its ability to deliver on that front earned it the GoldBlack Clover put out a surprisingly good episode. I still think the show is faaar from fantastic, but episodes like this, where we get a lot of actual character-building, are when it actually shines brightest, earning it the Silver, in this case. Date A Live is presenting probably the most interesting arc in the entire series. And had the animation not been so unbelievably ‘meh,’ it may well have ascended to a higher level. But that one element is severely holding it back. And, in this instance, that’s keeping it from earning anything higher than Bronze. Not bad, just not the best.

MVP: Mereoleona

Black Clover

I mean… her magic actually involves fire and she very literally carried the entire cast of the arc, at one point. So it only makes sense she’d win this- (whisper whisper) Huh? (whisper whisper) What do  you mean “she didn’t actually win?” (whisper whisper) Joke? Then who-

Actual MVP: Touma & Accelerator

Toaru Majutsu no Index III

…Oh. Well, duh. Accelerator’s character development is amazing and Touma finally got to be friggin’ COOL again.

Unique Achievement: Gold Damage

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai ZunousenKaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

Also: That is the single happiest “I’mma kill it!” face I’ve ever seen.

Unique Achievement: Allies Carried

Black Clover

There. An award she rightfully deserves. And, thanks to her method, she probably doesn’t have to worry about back pain!

CONCLUSION

All right! So, this was a fun little experiment. And, honestly, a tremendous weight off my back. Tell me how you liked this little thing I came up with. It might’ve been something I did because of how behind I am, but if you guys dug it, I’ll gladly look into trying it again, some time. Anyways, thanks for reading, as always. Keep up the Awesome!

Take Care,
Voyager

You hit on two of my favorite anime scenes this season. Accelerator vs Touma and Chika’s Fan attack. Chika is best girl of the season in my opinion with not one but two classic moments in the series. Accelerator’s character has just been absolutely amazing. Can’t wait for his solo series, it should be great!!

Chika is definitely best girl of the shows I’ve been covering, here. Though neither of us are admittedly covering any “Cute Girls Do Cute Things” shows and only one of us has a Harem (DAL), so the competition isn’t *that* stiff. Still, she’s a delight, pretty much whenever she’s around.

I’ve been waiting for the Touma/Accelerator rematch since the season began. I’m SO glad they did that moment justice. And yeah, his solo series should be awesome.
