Alexis has made his move. What does this say about his relationship with Akane? I guess we’ll find out together. How Evil is SSSS.Gridman’s 7th episode?
SSSS.Gridman
Studio: Trigger
Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Mecha
I can honestly say I think this is happening a little faster than I thought it would. I was expecting Alexis to make a grand entrance during a fight and clean Gridman’s clock after Akane failed a few more times. It seems he isn’t as patient as I thought he was. Still, I’m a little confused as to why he doesn’t just attack, himself. He seems powerful enough to kill a kaiju with a single blow, so why isn’t he the one fighting Gridman?
He met up with Yuta and Akane while they were eating in a restaurant and he was very polite to Yuta. Apparently, this was part of a plan Akane came up with to get Yuta and Gridman on their side. I’m surprised they tried this route, but I guess they realized that their fight against him hasn’t gotten them anywhere so far.
The talk was very civilized until Yuta’s device started to pick up a Kaiju. Thing is, Akane didn’t make one this time. Anti did. Oh yeah, Anti played the part of a school bully earlier and attacked Yuta at school and stole his lunch. Again, he could’ve just killed Yuta there, but I think Akane would’ve punished him for that, worse than she did for the theft. Anti’s hatred for Gridman attracted Alexis’s attention and he allowed Anti to create a Kaiju. He needs a heart full of hatred to make strong Kaiju apparently.
Anti’s Kaiju was drastically different from the ones Akane had been making. It was basically two Kaiju in one package. Gridman was defenseless as long as he was limited to the ground. So, this time, Vit, – the last of The Neon Genesis Junior High Students – took center stage and activated a flying combination with Gridman.
With the new combination, the battle seemed to be at a stalemate. Gridman could easily destroy the Kaiju but it kept coming back and attacking. It was missing now but that could only last for so long. Aware of the situation Yuta flew higher until he saw the Kaiju’s main body and Anti. Also an upsidedown city in the sky… I don’t know what to think about that one. It did look partially digital so maybe Voyager’s theory of it being some sort of tangible simulation is more right than it sounded like.
Anyway, after Yuta found the main body, the fight ended pretty quickly. He pretty much one-shot Anti this time too. Well… technically Vit did that on his own. Speaking of Anti, Akane and Alexis decided he needed to be punished. So Alexis showed up and attacked him. It looks like he might have taken out an eye in the process too. Ah villains, always lessening their own numbers before the final fight.
Overall, I’d say this episode was about as Evil as a Villian (9). If you want something else to read check out what Voyager’s been up to. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
