Can this show get any sillier? I’m asking for a friend… How Evil is the 16th episode of Golden Kamuy?

Shiraishi is captured. Now it’s time for Sugimoto to save him from possibly being flayed alive or something like that. Of course, Hijikata’s not going to sit around doing nothing about it either. He’s the first in the group to attempt the rescue.  I gotta give this guy credit. He doesn’t even care if his plan makes him look foolish. He’ll carry it out like it’s nothing at all.

Take his rescue plan, for instance. He dressed up as some kind of candy salesman just to pass on a message to Shiraishi about where the rescue would take place. It takes some kind of dedication to make a fool out of yourself. Believe me, I do it all the time (Voyager: Yep). But seriously, this looks ridiculous on him.

As ridiculous as he looked, he did almost rescue Shiraishi from the army by himself. I say almost because you can only do so much when the guy you’re trying to save doesn’t want to be saved. Shiraishi is still thinking Sugimoto will kill him when he finds out about the prolonged partnership with Hijikata. The funny thing is, that’s exactly what Sugimoto wants to do. It’s a good thing that Asirpa won’t allow that to happen.

Lieutenant Tsurumi was featured a lot, this time, as well, with his arms-dealing senpai. If I’m not mistaken, this guy has been supplying Lieutenant Tsurumi weapons for a long time. Also, he may be just a tad nuts. He and the Lieutenant get along a little too well.  They shared more than a couple of moments that may have implied their love for anything that shoots. I mean this was their reaction for blowing a hole in a hospital door.

Anyway, Sugimoto and company are still trying to figure out a way to rescue Shiraishi. Hijikata brings in someone that has tattoos to help them with the endeavor. The guy is a master at disguise and it isn’t long before they find the perfect man for him to become – the warden that imprisoned Hijikata. I’m guessing this might be a little vengeance. If they make the guy look bad, it can ruin him.

At least that’s what I thought before I saw Sugimoto’s disguise. There’s no way this is gonna work. How is anyone not going to notice Sugimoto? It’s impossible not to. If they get out of this unnoticed, I’ll leave a link to me in a video that I was a superhero in.  I mean come on. How can anyone fall for this?
