Is Akari cursed or lucky? This is the second time she went for a walk and ran into a supernatural creature that just happened to be another run-of-the-mill vampire. I guess she’s lucky? All the vampires she’s run into so far have turned out to be nice and Ellie is no exception. I do have to wonder if there are mean vampires, though. Someone had to give them a bad reputation or maybe the evil ones are the black sheep in this series?

Anyway, that’s not really important. Ellie is. Ellie is apparently Sophie’s oldest “friend,” who’s been missing for one hundred years. In fact, Sophie thought she might have gotten killed by vampire hunters for something she had done. Well, now we know those are a thing in this world. So, it was natural that Akari invited her in. But Sophie wasn’t up for her visit.

That’s a curious reaction to have towards a friend. We also find out that Ellie is one hundred years older than Sophie too. Now I’m wondering if Ellie is the one that turned Sophie into a vampire, to begin with. Ellie has no problem sucking people’s blood even if it’s Sophies. (Wait. Vampires bleed?) And she keeps saying that Sophie is her lover. Vampires usually turn their lovers. Though Sophie doesn’t seem to appreciate being called Ellie’s lover, so maybe I’m reading too far into this.

Before Ellie’s disappearance, Sophie went on many adventures with her, like going to public executions or traveling to other continents. And then one day Elly got tired and overslept… by one hundred years. No wonder Sophie thought she was dead. Things get a little funnier when Ellie mistakes Akari for a servant – something that both Akari and Sophie refute by saying they’re friends. Although Akari makes the mistake of asking Ellie what she thought she might be. Ellie responds with a slightly terrifying answer.

You see, to Ellie, humans and vampires can never be friends. She remembers the good old times when humans hunted them down just because of what they were. To be fair, with her willingness to drink people’s blood, who could blame them? Because of her past experiences, she tries to scare Akari off in order to save Sophie.

Her plan backfires as Akari somehow manages to flip the script when Elly threatens to attack her. What is it with this girl? You know something just isn’t right when the monsters are afraid of her.

Overall, this episode was about as Evil as a Killer Robot Army (8). If you like cute anime check out my recaps of Beelzebub-jou no Okinimesu mama. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
