Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san Episode 2 Recap | Is It Evil?

And the cuteness grows. How Evil is Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san’s second episode?

This was a thing. Akari and Sophie are an oddly cute pair. Then we add Hinata to the mix and it just gets better. I didn’t think I would even like this show. It just sounded boring to me. And now I could talk about this show all day. But then I’d never get done with my work. Let’s get to the good stuff.

Sophie is just funny without even trying to be. We heard about the book signing last time and now we got to see her actually leave the house during the day. There’s a certain comedy that comes with a vampire trying to be normal. In a lot of ways, she’s more fragile than any human in the episode. So how does a vampire go to a book signing in broad daylight? That is the question of today. And here’s the answer.

So, to go out in the day without dying, she has to look as suspicious as possible. I think they missed a few jokes here but no one even notices the way she’s dressed. I was looking forward to random people reacting to it but nope. It was funny how many paths Sophie knew to avoid too. I guess living for over three hundred years has its advantages.

Of course, the whole weakness to sunlight thing really sucks. When Sophie lost her umbrella Akari stepped in quickly and seemingly saved her life. I say seemingly because Sophie revealed that she can survive without her head somehow… I’m not even sure how that works but whatever. It was cute when she got saved so I don’t care.

And then we have Hinata. who came to visit Akari to make sure she was alright. And she had the most normal reaction to a vampire in this series so far. She may be a scaredy cat but she stuck around for her friend and it seems she and Sophie will get along pretty well too. They did have pretty similar reactions to Akari.

Now let’s talk about the horror movie viewing. First, off poor Hinata, she hates horror movies but can’t help but to act tough with Akari around. It was funny when they actually got around to watching them though. Their faces are just priceless. And their reactions to seeing a lot of blood couldn’t be more different.

Sophie: What a waste!       Hinata: I’m Scared!      Akari: Oh, that’s cool.

Overall, I’d say this episode was about as Evil as a Killer Robot Army (8). It’s enjoyable but it’s not as engaging to me as some of the other shows this season. If you want to know about my final three anime check out part three of our first impressions. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san is on Crunchyroll.

Keep It Classy,
