Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion Episode 4 Recap | Is It Evil?

Traitors are dead, the princess is okay, and there are three Mongols after Kuchii’s head. How Evil is the fourth episode of Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion?

Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion
Studio: NAZ
Genre: Historical, Drama, Action,

So, that traitor from the last episode that tried to assassinate Kuchii is dead within the first five seconds of this episode. I was hoping for something a bit more cinematic but that guy wasn’t even worth Kuchii’s effort. We did find out that the traitors were trying to save their families and some of the captives are still alive I’ll talk about that later. Oh yeah, Teruhi did get slashed by the traitor and she was rushed out while the Mongols fired on the Islanders exposed position.

Kuchii decided to proceed with the night raid anyway and it still worked despite the fact that the Mongols knew it was coming. In their panic, the Mongols decided to move what hostages they still had. Apparently, they killed a whole bunch before the night raid happened and their bodies where in the woods when they let them on fire making them visible for Kuchii and his men. Kuchii’s men also spotted the surviving captives being moved and asked Kuchii for permission to rescue them to which Kuchii said no. And then Kuchii and his men got reinforcements.

These new guys have apparently been hiding in the mountains and have now joined the fray by order of the emperor it appears. Hm, I guess the emperor’s reinforcements might actually come after all. With the unexpected reinforcements, Kuchii is able to rescue the captives with ease.  Escaping the area is where things get a little dicey.

Apparently, one of the generals Kuchii killed was the son of the guy in charge of the camp he just raided. And to make things a little worse the vice commander of the Mongol fleet has decided to specifically hunt down Kuchii. That’s three Mongol officers all gunning for Kuchii. Kuchii barely escapes the battle with the vice commander it seems they are evenly matched in skill. Oh and we get to see the guy in charge of the fleet well sort of.

That was the best picture of him. I’m just gonna call this guy Eyes until we see his actual face. So Eyes isn’t too happy about his vice commander running off without permission to fight in a pointless one on one fight. In fact, his orders to the vice commander are partially what let Kuchii escape. I’m not familiar with what happened historically in this event but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some decent in the Mongol ranks later on.

After the successful strike, Kuchii and the rest of the islanders meet up for some R&R. Some of the women rescued cook a feast for everyone which had me a little worried about a counter-attack but that didn’t happen, yet. There was this little scene of the son of the traitor killed this episode being blamed for his father’s treason. Kuchii put a stop to that will quickly and got the young man to vow revenge for his father’s death. At least he isn’t being bullied now?

Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion

Overall I’d say this episode is about as Evil as a Killer Robot Army (8). If this does what I think It does a lot of people should start to die around the midpoint so episode six and beyond. I’m prepared for that this is based on history after all. If you rather watch something not historical CVoyage has a variety of things to check out in his Weekly Anime Redux articles. Be sure to check it out when you get the chance. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

According to wikipedia the guy you call “Eyes” is named Hindun. Since he’s being voiced by Shou Hayami you should really call him Eyes-zen. You know because he’s Aizen’s Japanese seiyuu. I’d know that voice anywhere.
