Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion Episode 3 Recap | Is It Evil?

Betrayal already? I was expecting something like that much later. How Evil is the third episode of Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion?

Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion
Studio: NAZ
Genre: Historical, Drama, Action,

After the defeat that ended the last episode things are not looking good for the local islanders. Their forces are in full retreat and the Mongol invaders are chasing them relentlessly all hope appears to be lost. That is until an all too familiar figure appears wearing an outdated suit of armor.

You guessed it, Kuchii has arrived on the scene dawning the armor he was given by the now dead chief. He makes one heck of an entrance too he ends up killing an enemy generally sniping him with a single arrow. And then he tells the fleeing troops to turn around because…

The Mongols in their zeal have formed a single file line to chase the Islanders. If you know anything about combat or RTS games you would know single files lines aren’t a thing you want your troops in. So Kuchii leads a charge against greater numbers and strikes at the comanders.

He succeeds in driving back the enemy and retrieving the heads of the former chief and his son. While Kuchii is out doing his thing Teruhi takes command of the island forces herself. I gotta give her props for someone who hates violence she sure can take charge. She even told one of the officers to shut up.

When Kuchii returned to base he had an even more outrageous idea. He proposes a night raid to the rest of the troops. The main goal of the night raid isn’t to win but to make the Mongols more cautious as they travel deeper into the island which would be the Islanders more time to hold out. The reinforcements should be on the way so, the strategy makes a lot of sense.

There’s just one problem. Kuchii has enlisted the help of three guides from the village that was destroyed. Apparently, the Mongols offered them some sort of deal because they betrayed Kuchii the first chance they got. In fact, it ended with Teruhi possibly getting hurt. I hate cliffhangers…

Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion

Overall, I’d say this episode was about as Evil as a Killer Robot Army (8). It’s still entertaining I don’t really have any complaints about it so far. If this one doesn’t peak your interest CVoyage has a few in his Anime Week reviews that might. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

The cliffhanger seemed unnecessary. The whole situation was unresolved so viewers were likely to come back regardless even if the episode had ended with the creeping up to the army and then we could have had the betrayal and the injury next week. This kind of ending just makes you wonder if they lack confidence in return viewership.
