Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari – Episodes 8 – 9 Recap (Is It Evil?)

A lot of things have been revealed and the bad guys close in. How Evil are the eighth and ninth episodes of Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari?

Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari (Butlers X Battlers)
Studio: SILVER LINK.
Genre: Action, Comedy

Episode 9 started things with a bit of weird humor involving the new butlers learning about their powers. Apparently, there’s no instruction manual. They just have to learn to master them through trial and error and that led to some pretty weird moments. Each of them has their own unique ability, from short-distance warping to being able to transform objects just by touching them. All of them are dangerous without being mastered. My favorite had to be Dracula’s though. He can see the future but he’s not great at figuring out what his visions mean.

Along with the new powers being revealed, we also learn who our bad guys are.  The school’s headmaster and the gardener are the ones responsible for trying to steal the pendant 100 years ago. We aren’t privy to why they’re after it. Just that they’re part of a faction using their powers for personal gain. And that’s not explained until the next episode.

Episode 9 focuses more on the events surrounding Jay’s sister and his appearance in the future.  Jay and his friends were able to solve the puzzle inside his sister’s bracelet leading to the recovery of a letter she left for Jay. Before I get to the letter, I want to take this time to point out that another big thing got revealed.

Hayakawa was engaged to Jay’s sister. I guess that’s why Jay was mad about Hayakawa not protecting his sister. And it did seem like he was accusing Hayakawa of taking his sister away too. The letter does nothing to help Jay cope with his feelings either. The letter was written to Jay in case his sister did disappear and it revealed that Hayakawa knew everything this entire time.

Jay is understandably pissed. Hayakawa’s known what happened to his sister this whole time and done nothing to help. There is a problem with his thinking though. Jay’s sister left that note so he wouldn’t feel guilty and I have a feeling it was also meant to get Jay and Hayakawa to work together.

Jay doesn’t heed the letter all that much though. He challenges Hayakawa to a fight again. You would think after being beaten by this guy two times he would just stop trying to fight him. I’m pretty sure Jay is going to lose again unless the fight gets interrupted. Oh, I almost forgot to mention this but while Jay and Hayakawa are fighting Holmes and Watson are fighting one of the bad guys and are losing pretty badly. Maybe the two battles will spill over?

Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari

Overall these episodes are about as Evil as a Killer Robot Army (8). I like how much got revealed in these episodes, but I wonder if they are rushing this just a bit. This show started off pretty slow and now it’s been speeding up. I hope the end doesn’t seem forced. If you’re more into romance CVoyage is reviewing 3D Kanojo: Real Girl. I’m not current with it so check out his articles. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari is Simulcast on Crunchyroll, Wednesdays at 2:00pm EST.

Keep It Classy,
