Last Period: Owarinaki Rasen no Monogatari – Episodes 7 – 8 Recap (Is It Evil?)

And I thought the hot springs episode was obnoxious. How Evil are the 7th and 8th episodes of Last Period: Owarinaki Rasen no Monogatari?

Last Period: Owarinaki Rasen no Monogatari
Studio: J.C. Staff
Genre: Magic, Comedy

Episode 7 started with Gajeru‘s sister giving him a nice warm welcome home. Don’t worry though he deserved every bit of it. You see Gajeru forged his sister’s signature on a job contract just so he could take his teammates to his hometown. She found out about his deception and came to greet him accordingly. If I were his teammates I would be furious too but none of them seem all that concerned that the job was fake. You know for people who need money that’s a strange reaction.

The team decides to take a tour wait, don’t tours cost money? How can they afford to do that? At the end of the tour, they acquire a side quest to help the tour guide keep his job. The mayor of the town is forcing him to retire so that his cute girl replacements can take over. Liza sees this as a great injustice and gets the whole town to riot against the mayor. When the riots fail Liza tries to do things the legal way which fails until the king arrives. Upon facing the king the mayor reveals that he was just trying to save the tour guide from overworking himself and offers to resign his position over the confusion he caused. The king and the tour guide decided to give him a second chance and they all vow to make the town great again.

Yes, they did use that exact phrasing. That was everything important in episode 7. Episode 8 was kind of a waste of time. Don’t get me wrong it was funny but it didn’t make a whole lot of sense towards the end of the episode. It started off with what looked like a much-needed vacation for Haru and his friends, but because of the money situation, they had to work on the beach episode.

Haru was tasked with being a lifeguard while Liza and Gajeru had to run a food stand that their guild somehow owns. Even their boss was off doing jobs while on the beach. Liza took things a little too far when one of their customers asked for blood. I think she’s still trying to get Gajeru back from when they were rich.

And that’s when things stop making a whole lot of sense. Okay, I couldn’t figure out any other way to put this so try to bear with me. There is a spiral haunting female swimsuits on the beach and it makes things very awkward.

Apparently, It used to be a human who couldn’t get a girlfriend friend now it haunts the beach and does pervy things to the visitors. At least we know why he couldn’t get a girlfriend now. On top of that we have some random fleet coming in to perform exercises and before the spiral strips, all of the female visitors down to nothing and then vanishes while saying something about freedom of expression.

Like I said it doesn’t make sense in the end. Overall I’d say episode 7 was about as Evil as a Villian (9). It was a lot of fun and it did give us a new character. On the other hand episode, 8 was about as Evil as a Henchman (4.). It just wasn’t as good as the show has been so far, it was just blatant fanservice. If you are looking for something that’s not as whimsical as this show check out CVoyage’s reviews for Toji no Miko. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
