Not going to lie, I don’t know what to make of this just yet. How Evil is the Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari premiere?
Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari (Butlers X Battlers)
Studio: SILVER LINK.
Genre: Action, Comedy
Released: 2018
Butlers: They are guardians that hold a thousand-year history and a certain fate. Jay lived in peace with his little sister Tenna and a fellow Butler named Hayakawa. However, those peaceful days came to a sudden end. Tenna was swallowed up into the void and Jay was sent a hundred years into the future. Jay finds there is now an academy called Koyomi Academy standing in the place where his mansion once stood. Jay took up the name Jinguji Koma and became the student council president of the school as he looks for clues about the past. Jay will eventually find out the truth behind this world. -Crunchyroll
So yeah, in the first episode we only just learned about Jay’s sister with a hint of time travel. I feel like I just got spoilers for the next episode and maybe even more. Let’s get down to it. Jay, as people like to call him despite his new name, is a Butler as mentioned by Crunchyroll. We don’t get a whole lot on it this first episode but apparently, he got sent one hundred years into the future somehow and so did Hayakawa. We only see a small glimpse of his sister when he and his friends clean up his old study apparently.
We don’t get a whole lot about Jay either. what we do get comes solely from what little we see him do and say. Like how he turns down a pretty girl and how he reacts to others in this world. It’s almost like he doesn’t really have a reason to care about this world. He’s not a jerk or anything, but he’s kind of blunt.
We also see the scary part of him a few times. Like when his opponent for the student console president called him out for rigging the election. The look he gave the guy after his friends caught the bull that was being said. And of course, when he caught the slacker in the study, that look is plain evil.
And then we have his meeting with his old friend Hayakawa. We know this guy has something to do with Jay’s sister but we don’t exactly know what. Jay purposely invited the guy to the school during his inauguration just to “talk” to him. We don’t get anything on time travel until the very end of this episode.
After Jay tries to beat the crap out of Hayakawa who doesn’t seem to remember him or his sister. Or that he himself is a Butler. He could be lying but with time travel involved he might be telling the truth. The last part of the episode has Jay ranting about going back and changing things, so I’m guessing that we’ll get the time travel stuff next episode.
This wasn’t a bad introduction episode though I wish we got a bit more of the time travel element. This episode was about as Evil as a Killer Robot Army (8). I enjoyed it, for the most part, nothing for me to gripe about yet. If you want something with a bit more action check out CVoyage’s reviews for My Hero Academia. It’s back and looks to be off to a great start this season. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
