Hakyu Hoshin Engi – Episode 10 Recap (Is It Evil?)
For once Taikoubou had a plan instead of rush the enemy and it worked. How Evil is Hakyu Hoshin Engi episode 10?
I’m a little impressed by how Taikoubou managed to fool one of the enemy commanders. All that nonsense with the games he played the last episode was merely a distraction to catch the enemy off guard. He even managed to give the enemy a papercut so they could track the blood back to him. Of course without Gyakutei, Shinjin the whole plan would’ve failed. Speaking of Shinjin, We got a whole lot of his backstory this episode. Most of it dealt with his relationship to Youzen. That immediately got me worried. You see last time an anime gave me back story on someone who we just really got to know they died.
Anyway, that bat guy gave Shinjin and Taikoubou a way to save Youzen there’s just one catch. Only one of them can take this shortcut. If you’re thinking it’s a trap you just hit the nail on the head. Even Taikoubou realizes it’s a trap, but he knows it’s the fastest way to save Youzen. Shinjin volunteers to hide some secret of Youzen’s or whatever which pretty much marked him for death in my mind. It was made worse when he ran into the bat guy. The bat guy cut himself and seemingly exploded into, a vortex of blood shaped like a giant cube.
Somehow the bat guy’s weapon can create a unique space out of his blood. It’s somewhat like the others we’ve seen but this one exists in normal space. While inside this “blood space” acidic blood rains down on all who are trapped inside. Shinjin is trapped inside this with Youzen who can’t even walk right now. As Youzen’s mentor Shinjin sees it as his duty to rescue his pupil from the acidic rain, he starts marching towards the exit while carrying his crippled student.
Meanwhile, Taikoubou charges for the control center of the island. Don’t worry he seems to have learned, he spots the cube of blood on his way to the center and decides to go there instead. They did have me worried there. His first reaction is usually to rush the front line. I’m glad he decided against that this time.
As Taikoubou arrived at the entrance of the cube he was greeted by Shinjin cutting through the cube and tossing Youzen out of harm’s way. I gotta say this guy’s intense, unfortunately, he’s also dead. I know I’ve probably, but I hate trope of killing off mentors. If Shinjin could cut through the cube why not go berserk and destroy the whole thing?
As much as I hate the troop it does have its uses. Only time will tell if they use this one right. As far as this episode goes I’d say it’s about as Evil as The Dark Side (6). This show looks like it might be shaping up. Taikoubou seems to be learning from his mistakes now. If you want to watch something just to kill time check out CVoyage’s reviews for Black Clover. It’s at least consistent. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
