Hakyu Hoshin Engi – Episode 7 Recap (Is It Evil?)

I’ve gotta give them props, That laser cannon showdown was cool to watch. How Evil is Hakyu Hoshin Engi episode 7?

Kingo Island has risen to wipe out the floating mountain. It seems Taikoubou can’t succeed in most of his plans. Maybe they should replace him with someone more competent? No, that would make sense, this show doesn’t like to make sense. Taikoubou has yet to actually succeed in any of his plans so far, I know he’s the hero and all but this is getting a little old. Taikoubou should at least be able to do something right and yet he has yet to actually do anything that has worked so far.

This episode has a good example of it too. Taikoubou is given command of the floating mountain. Instead of fleeing with the mountain’s population they meet the enemy head-on. Sound familiar? It should, seeing how it seems to be his favorite strategy. Whenever he gets back into a corner he likes to charge his enemies head-on, that would be fine. If it ever worked.  This time the mountain gets clipped a Death Star beam and a bunch of people die.

Taikoubou returns fire, but the Kingo Island has a shield. This is where Youzen comes in. I want to point out that Youzen is doing more protaging than Taikoubou has done all season. Youzen single handily infiltrated Kingo Island to destroy the shield generator. All Taikoubou has done is lose and get people killed. Why isn’t Youzen the protagonist again?

Speaking of others doing more than the protagonist, Nataku was in this episode too. He was fighting outside of the mountain which is arguably safer than being inside of the mountain when Taikoubou is in charge. Anyway, back to Youzen. He was making good progress into he got caught in subspace? Or was it Hyperspace? I’m going to be honest, it didn’t make a whole lot of sense, it was just weird.

Turns out that in that weird space thing, anyone who isn’t the user disintegrates into the sand. Youzen’s weapon and clothing were no match for the environment, but Youzen just unleashed his final form and was perfectly fine. Apparently, he has a gaseous form. I guess that explains how he can shapeshift so easily. That was where this episode ended too. So yay, a pointless cliffhanger.

Overall I would say this episode was about as Evil as The Dark Side (6). So glad they are leaving out the awfull future flashes now. I was a little disappointed that Dakki didn’t make an appearance this episode. At least the show is watchable now but it still needs a lot more work to make it better. If you want something that’s gotten a lot better from where it started, check out CVoyages reviews for Maerchen Maedchen. It’s apparently gotten really funny. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
