Mahoutsukai No Yome – Episode 20 Recap (Is It Evil?)
So, Chise adds another life threating condition to her already towering stack of problems. How Evil is Mahoutsukai No Yome episode 20?
The fight against the dragon continues, Chise and company tried to fight a fire-breathing dragon. It went about as well as could be expected, their attacks did little to nothing. Elias comes up with a strategy to drain the dragons magic but he got sent flying leaving it all on Chise’s shoulders. Chise did have the opportunity to call for help, but she chose to do something before they arrived.
She did manage to stop the dragon, but it came at a terrible price. You see she gets some sort of curse from doing this without Elias to help her. They don’t really tell us a whole lot about the curse either. the only thing we really know is that it’s a bad thing. And it does this to her arm.
Minus the bandages of course. That massive arm is apparently not the only thing this curse will do to her, it will also make Chise’s body fall apart. And most of that information comes from that nice otherworldy doctor from before. Elias is mostly speechless and angry with Chise, he leaves the room not saying anything of value.
We get to hear a little more out of him when Chise goes out for a walk without permission. Their little talk gets somewhat romantic too. It seems he doesn’t want to be without her and it seems she feels the same about him. I was somewhat impressed they actually said anything that even leaned towards romance. It’s been a slow buildup and I was thinking we would see something like that a little later.
When they return home they are greeted by a witch named Mariel. She helped out in the auction for the dragon last episode. I think she was manipulating the crowd in Chise’s favor, look I still don’t know how she helped. Mariel came to collect some dragon blood as payment but decides to recruit Chise instead. Elias is actually willing to let her do it too, you see there’s a chance the witches can cure Chise due to the fact their specialty is in curses
After that ray of sunshine, we see Joseph again. He is apparently interested in Chise’s new curse. Seems like my theory of him wanting to die may not be as farfetched as I thought. This show is a rollercoaster of emotions, it hits every part of the spectrum. I’m hoping Chise doesn’t die. I don’t read the manga so please don’t tell me. Anyway, overall I’d say this episode was about as Evil as a Super Villian (10). If you like shows with a bit more action check out CVoyages reviews for Black Clover. Be warned though, it can be a mess. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
