Yaichi is just so dense. How Evil is Ryuuou No Oshigoto! episode 5?
Ryuuou No Oshigoto!
Studio: Project No.9
Genre: Comedy, Romance
The two Ais meet at last and the first Ai threatens to torture Yaichi until he tells her the truth. What’s up with the little girls this season? The Colors deemed humanity worthy of death and now Ai is going to torture Yaichi. At least it still fits the theme of cute girls doing things, but god it gets dark. If you remember where the last episode left us the two Ai’s were destined to meet and they did. The show then started to make everything sound very wrong, it got uncomfortable enough that I would’ve stopped watching if I could. Look it’s fine to have little girls in a show, just don’t use them in jokes that could get people thrown in jail. I was hoping they were done with these horrible jokes.
Anyway, after meeting each other Ai2 antagonizes Ai to the point of her running away to Yaichi’s masters home. The conflict eventually leads to Ai2’s entrance exam. She wins her first two matches with ease. The third match put her against Ai. Even that match was pretty one-sided. Ai2 obliterated Ai, but they two sort of became rivals in the process.
Yaichi has a few interesting developments this episode too. One of the other players highly suggests that Ginko is trying to become a pro to get closer to Yaichi. Yes, you heard that right. Ginko actually likes Yaichi. They make it painfully obvious when he calls her asking for advice too. Another thing is Yaichi has been trying to figure out where he’s seen Ai2’s method of playing.
He finds out that it’s from when he was a kid recording the match from a master at the time. The master was playing Ai2’s father and he used a similar move. It’s also around that time that it was decided that Yaichi would teach Ai2 if she chooses to play Shogi. just one thing. Yaichi is in elementary school here. Ai2 was at most two years old?
Weird age placement aside Yaichi finally formally accepts Ai2 as a student. The battle is far from over, Yaichi must break the news to Ai as well. Not going to lie, I was expecting her to try and torture him like she said she would. Nothing happened that way at all. She apparently thought about it and simply asked him who’s his number one.
He thinks about it and tells her she is. She then asks the number of games he played with Ai2. He tells her they played 18 games. She tells him that they have to play 19 games right now. It was already night by the way. I’m pretty sure staying up all night playing isn’t a good thing… Oh wait, I do that sometimes don’t I? Whoops.
Overall this episode was about as Evil as a Career Criminal (3). It’s fun don’t get me wrong, but it’s bogged down by things this show just doesn’t need. Like the jokes, I mentioned earlier. They stopped doing them for a bit too, why on Earth did they think it was a good idea to use them again? If you want something that’s funny without making you watch for the FBI, check out our reviews for Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san. It is simple but boy is it funny. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
