Well, looks like the show just intensified. How Evil is Ryuuou No Oshigoto! episode 4?
Ryuuou No Oshigoto!
Studio: Project No.9
Genre: Comedy, Romance
So, Yaichi did it again. This dude apparently has no situational awareness at all. Let’s get right into it before I give too much away. We start off with Yaichi being approached with a request to take on another nine-year-old as a disciple. You’d think at this point he’d be able to say no. But there’s a catch, this time.
You see, this time I’m sure he might’ve died if he said no. See, all the guys wearing the same black and white outfits with sunglasses? There are two possibilities about who these people are. They could just be bodyguards. That would be the safe option. But the lady in front almost pulls a gun to kill someone later in this episode. All things considered, I think these guys are yakuza. Anyway, Yaichi is here to meet his new student… Ai? For the sake of not getting confusing, I’m just going to call her Ai2 for now. (CVoyage: You could just use her last name…)
Ai2 is a bit of a brat with an angsty backstory that any side character could sympathize with (CVoyage: Oh. Being ignored). Her parents taught her the way of Shogi and then died in a car accident. I didn’t say it was creative, just dark. After their first session, Yaichi returns home to find the study group from before has been meeting at his house again.
The youngest of them asks to become his disciple. He refuses because he has two already. The little girl starts to cry, forcing him to reconsider. And he tells her she can be his bride… Okay, of all the things he could’ve said that was the worst thing he could do. The little girl is elated. Though I’m pretty sure she doesn’t know what bride means. Ai is pissed and storms out calling Yaichi “Lolicon King.” Ya did that to yourself man. Yaichi then decides it would be best not to tell Ai about Ai2 being a disciple. That can’t possibly backfire anytime soon, right? After another session with Ai2, Yaichi returns home to face…
Ginko. Who was so unsatisfied with a pro game, she traveled to his house to demand satisfaction from Yaichi. And yes, I mean a game of Shogi. Get your minds outta the gutter. He wasn’t home so she took out her frustration poor Ai instead. Ginko, finally satisfied, promptly leaves. On her way out she tells Yaichi “That thing is getting weaker.” The thing is Ai, but Ginko is petty.
Yaichi and Ai sit down to eat soon after that. Ai tells him that she knows he is hiding something, but Yaichi denies it. He’s just digging his own grave at this point. To make matters even worse. He decides to take Ai2 to the Shogi Dojo that he introduced Ai to earlier. Ai’s study group also decides to go to the dojo.

Crap! This was a bad idea!
I’m pretty sure the next episode will be hilarious. When Ai gets angry it’s just adorable. Maybe Ginko will end up in the dojo too? I hope so. Yaichi needs to learn to say no, in a hurry. Overall I would say this episode was about as evil as a Killer Robot Army (8). This show has a formula that works for the most part. They haven’t done anything cringe-worthy lately maybe this show will rank up soon. If you’re looking for a different kind of romance story, check out CVoyage’s reviews of Beatless. It’s adorable too for other reasons. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
