Mitsuboshi Colors – Series First Impression (Is It Evil?)
I wasn’t expecting a lot of that. how evil is the Mitsuboshi Colors series first impression?
I have a lot to cover, this time, so let’s just jump right in. Mitsuboshi Colors follows the adventures and exploits of three elementary students as they try to help maintain the peace of their hometown. Yes, they are trying to be heroes. Sounds like it might be a little boring right? That’s what I thought too until I watched the first episode. This episode opened with Yui, the one with the brown hair, running to their “secret base” to tell the others about the first case of the show.
At the base, we meet the other girls – Sacchan, the blonde one that tends to sleep a lot and Kotoha, the blue-haired gamer-girl with questionable taste. Yui manages to convince them to help her look for a cat that looks like a panda. Before they leave Sacchan finds some funny glasses on the floor of the base. Apparently, the cat has been bad enough to get their attention. With the “mission” accepted, the girls head to get information on the pest from a local police officer. He refuses to help, then…
He then tells them that the cat has been stealing items from townsfolk for quite some time. With this info in hand, the girls head out to search the town. It leads to an amazing montage of the girls saying stuff like “come out cat burglar.” Everything seemed to be for naught until the girls came across Kujiraoka the shopkeeper. Oddly enough we never see the girls eat anything. I wonder if it would look like a scene from Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san if they did? Hopefully we’ll find that out soon.
It just so happens that Kujiraoka is selling the same funny glasses that Sacchan found before they left the base. At that revelation, Kotoha has an idea and the team leaves the shop. Next time we see the team, they’ve caught the cat… I wish they showed how it happened but at the very least they made it sound easy. And look at thoose adorable faces.
Come to think of it. It seems like a lot of this anime this season involve cute girls doing things. Anyway after the cat thing, the girls have moved on. Yui has made it her mission to get something their cat needs and she hasn’t told the other girls right away. They return to Kujiraoka’s shop to find the mystery item. This is where a few things happen that made me wonder what I was watching. You see, the cat finds what looks like a weapon case.
It turns out it is a weapon case and Kujiraoka sells it and it’s contents to the girls… I’m pretty sure that’s not a good idea. On top of that Kotoha wants to use this weapon on the cop that helped them before. Yui couldn’t get the item she wanted, so they ended up leaving with this thing.
In the end, the weapon was fake but the cop still took a low blow. There’s still one more little story in this episode too. Turns out Kujiraoka wants the girls to help him open a safe he lost the code for. This case winds up being nothing more than a scavenger hunt, set up by the shopkeeper to keep them busy. After solving the clue left to them, the girls eventually find the code to unlock the safe. What’s inside? A bowl for their cat’s food.
So far this show is enjoyable. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense sometimes but at least it’s fun. I would say it’s about as evil as Killer Robot Army. If you want to see another anime with a cute art style check out CVoyage’s Slow Start first impression.Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
Keep It Classy,
