How evil is Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san’s premiere?
I originally assumed that this anime would be to ramen what Dagashi Kashi was to Japanese junk food. You know, a glorified Superbowl ad in anime form. I was wrong. But that isn’t a bad thing. This anime is about Koizumi, and she happens to love ramen… a lot. She also appears to be drop dead gorgeous, but she has one turn off. She doesn’t seem to like other people at all. This episode started with her being freshly transferred to this new school this is where Yuu, our other protagonist, meets her. It seems like love at first sight… for Yuu, anyway.
After School, Yuu is faced with trying to figure out what she’ll eat for dinner. She ends up near an unopened ramen shop where she finds Koizumi waiting in line for it to open. Yuu gets into line too, mainly to try to get to know Koizumi, but she gets noped. I think the best part is the deadpan stare the appears with the nopes. And this won’t be the last time, either.
That’s pretty much the entire first episode. Yuu tries to be friendly and gets noped after Koizumi eats ramen. I’m glad that Yuu doesn’t stop trying though. Even after being noped all those times, Yuu is still happy to try again. The whole “nope” thing didn’t really get old either. Black Clover had a similar joke but it didn’t work as well. Oh, it was also funny to see Yuu becoming more of a ramen lover too.
That being said I’m not sure ramen lover is an accurate description of Koizumi. She doesn’t just love ramen, it’s more like a lifestyle choice for her. Yes, she eats ramen, but she also eats it differently depending on where she is. At school, she eats it like everyone else, but at a shop, she eats a whole bowl in three seconds flat. She claims it’s to help the shop with their customer turnover rate? That’s a convenient excuse, but okay.
I don’t usually watch any Shoujo Ai anime, but this one was enjoyable for me. In fact, I would say this episode was about as evil as a Villian. Lots of fun to be had in this anime, I may do this one episode by episode, but we’ll see. The season has just started and this one is good so far. Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
