RWBY Volume 5 – Episode 8 Recap (Is It Evil?)

Back to the build up… Again. Well, How Evil is RWBY vol. 5, episode 8?

RWBY
Studio: Rooster Teeth
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Science Fiction

You know it would’ve been nice if we saw the bandits fighting Salem’s minions, this episode. What we got was more Blake. But at least this time something happened. There was some with Ruby and the gang too but it wasn’t all that important. Blake tried to talk to the assassin, again.  It’s almost like she wants to be killed/taken by The White Fang. Black meet with her in private, and yes it was a trap.

I would’ve liked this a lot more if Blake didn’t do her crying act while tied up in a spider web. Almost everything that was said to her she cried until the plan to kill her parents came to light. Then Blake gave a signal to Sun and she magically broke out of the webs. Two students vs four assassins… who decide to flee. Boy they incompetent. Why did they even use the webs if people can just break out of them?

And here comes the part I’m most worried about.  Even after outsmarting the assassins Blake still may not make it home in time to help. Blake’s mom was pinned down when the first time we see her in this episode. The bodyguards are dying left and right, and she has to take up arms to defend her self. While I’m sure she can fight, the enemy has a sizable group invading her home.

Blake’s dad doesn’t fare much better. He was fighting an even bigger group and he lost his last guard when The White Fang cult twins barged in. I have a really bad feeling about that situation. I think he’s about to die protecting his family. I really hope I’m wrong about that. He’s one of my new favorites. I still don’t get why he felt the need to go shirtless.

And what happened to his eyes?

This episode was pretty standard for the show, up to this point. Not a lot going on, but the build-up, much like the struggle, is real. I would say it was about as evil as a Politician. If you like RWBY, there are a few other anime we review that are just as harmless.

Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thank’s for letting me waste your time, people.

Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
