RWBY Volume 5 – Episode 4 Recap (Is It Evil?)

Yang is back! and she’s pissed. How Evil is RWBY Volume 5, episode 4?

RWBY
Studio: Rooster Teeth
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Science Fiction

When we last left Yang (Chris Note: a.k.a Best Girl) she was trying to find Raven’s camp. She seems to have traveled with the guy she beat up. But he clearly hasn’t learned his lesson and leads her into a trap. This guy already lost a tooth. He’s just asking to get his butt kicked even worse now.

The thing that surprised me most was that Yang never really used her powers to get out of the trap. She blocked bullets with her new arm and took down the ambush team like they were nothing. The funny part was that after the beating, she had them escort her to the camp. I guess being the leader’s daughter has some perks?

Yang Wins. Flawless Victory.

We did get to see some of the training Ruby and company are going through. It seems that their powers can grow and evolve beyond what they have now. We also learn that Jaune and Oscar have yet to unlock their Syblances.’ Apparently, Ozpin intends to fix that and soon.

Ruby’s training was in the spotlight and it was all hand-to-hand. Which makes sense. Ozpin did point that out as one of her weaknesses.  Against Oscar, Ruby was pretty dominant but when Ozpin took over it was very much the reverse.  Seems like he likes teaching using the straightforward approach.

Then we have Raven. We got a lot about her when Yang finally arrived at the camp. She seemed pleased that Yang was able to find her, but disappointed that she wanted to find Ruby.  She is a very complicated woman. Raven even called her men off to avoid attracting Grimm. But I wonder if there is more to it than just that.

On top of the “bonding moments,” Raven’s Symbalance has been revealed. She can create portals to anyone she has bonded with. Which explains how she got to Yang so fast, back in Volume 2. We know she has portals set for three people but we don’t know if 3 is the limit.  We also know she doesn’t trust Ozpin. In fact, she may fear or despise him. It could be both but she has promised to reveal the truth to Yang.

The episode ended with a Yang (Chris Note: …Okay, done. Done editing this. Review’s over. Later, folks).

Ahem. I would say it’s about as evil as a Politician. If they don’t make good on all this build up, I’ll… sit here and angrily glare at the screen. I’m not expecting a masterpiece, just a fun show. If you liked what you read check out our other reviews.

That’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
