Dies Irae – The Real Episode 3 Review (Is It Evil?)

Did Ren just kill someone? I’m really confused. How evil is Dies Irae’s real episode… 2?

Dies Irae
Studio: A.C.G.T
Genre: Action, Fantasy

Yes, I know. I already have an episode two review. This one is for the second one after episode 0. The last one was for episode 1. Are you confused? Good! We have something in common now. I don’t really know where to begin, here. The school parts still make sense, but the minute they add in the “supernatural” stuff, everything gets hazy.

Most of the cuts make absolutely no sense in this thing. The Bayformers had better editing than this. They literally cut from Ren sleeping in his room to him apparently killing someone in a park, and then right to him waking up in the same park with all signs of the fight gone.

The action still looks good. But we’re still waiting for Ren to actually do something besides be helpless. The Ghost girl, who is a goddess, I guess, is back and apparently, she haunts his dreams every night. So yay, he gets to hear that song every… single… night. Oh, he witnesses beheadings every night too, and people are found the next day the same way. Still not entirely sure who’s behind that, or why it’s relevant.

This episode manages to be more confusing than the last one. Now I’m even less sure of what is actually happening. I have so many questions, and this series seems intent on giving me have more. there are a few things I want to be answered if I’m to continue this series.  Let’s start with why is Ren seeing these disturbing images? Who is responsible for the beheadings? If those first two lead back to Ren being the killer, I’m out. Unless they can tell me why he would be the killer. For me to enjoy a series I have to understand at least why things are happening.

So far this series isn’t doing a good job keeping me entertained. And if comments on the internet are to be believed, I’m not the only one. Right now I’d say this episode is about as evil as a Career Criminal. If you are looking for a good Psychological anime, go check out Inuyashiki.  Or if psychological isn’t your thing, read up on some of our other reviews from the season.

That’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob

From what I can tell the modern cast are reincarnations of the episode 0 crowd. That, or there are multiple version of each character from different worlds. I know the main villain wants to destroy the world because he loves the world. That’s about all I made out from this series so far.

I’m lost too with this one, though I seem to be more intrigued than frustrated after episode 2. Episode 0 was just a complete mess so I’m putting it aside of the moment. If anything there becomes apparently relevant I’ll rewatch when it might have some context. But while we haven’t got a lot of answers in episodes 1 and 2 they have kind of made me think we’re going to get an explanation (maybe I’m just really optimistic and headed for disappointment).
