Well, we have our supervillain now. How evil is Inuyashiki, episode 2?

This episode followed the other victim of the aliens – a high school student named Hiro Shishigami. Don’t get attached to that name. He’s a normal student by day, and a mass murdering psychopath by night. He is a bit more complicated than that, but I’ll get to that in a moment. He seems to have powers Inuyashiki doesn’t or at least hasn’t figured out how to use.

All through this episode Hiro uses his newfound powers to kill a crow, make all the TVs in a store display porn, cause a horrible traffic accident, and kill an entire, completely random family. He’s really a nice guy once you get to know him. (Chris Note: I doubt that). What sets him apart from being an evil for evil’s sake villain is his motive. Much like Inuyashiki, Hiro is acting out on what makes him feel alive. Both of these characters have the same motivation, they just go about it differently.

All that aside, this was a hard episode for me to finish. I can usually stand death and gore, but the whole dad and kid getting killed while bathing… that was a little much for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to watch this series. Especially because of the promised fight coming in the next episode. Though I’m sure Hiro will win that fight unless Inuyashiki is a really fast learner. As much as I’d like to see Inuyashiki defeat Hiro, Hiro just seems to have his powers mastered a little more.

It was nice to get Hiro’s story after the incident that Inuyashiki and him shared.  Right now I have so many questions. Did this happen before? Could there be more of these guys out there? If there are more, whose side would they take? The subtitle of the show is “The Last Hero.” They couldn’t all be bad, could they? Where did the aliens even come from? Why did they rebuild two humans with weapons? I’m not sure if even one of these will be answered.

Overall, this anime has a lot going on right now. Both of the victims have found ways to feel alive. And now they are going to try and kill each other. I would say it’s about as evil as a Super Villain. While there are parts of this episode that made me feel sick, there is nothing here for me to lower the rating over.
