The scruffy-looking nerf herder returns in a young Han Solo film.
So, this morning the Han Solo film wrapped. The film’s name has been revealed as Solo: A Star Wars Story. This comes as no surprise, given the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story set the naming convention for these anthology stories. We do know Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and Lando will be making appearances in the film, but we have no idea what it will be about.
I have a few theories on what it might be. Han could be smuggling something stolen from the empire. If that happens, we might just see Boba Fett (Chris Note: Not the most likely thing. They are still planning to give him his own movie). I know we haven’t seen anyone cast as Boba, but it could be something being kept secret for the time being. It could also be possible this movie will show us how he got the Falcon. And maybe even show us the ship he had before he got his iconic ship? (Chris: Speaking of that, I could’ve sworn I remembered hearing somewhere that we might get to see him losing said ship).
If Vader is involved in a big way, could Han be smuggling a Jedi? If that ends up being the case, which Jedi? There are so many ways they could take this. Until we see a trailer, all I can do is guess. I would like to see how Han met Chewie. If I remember right, he was imprisoned by the empire when Han met him, in the old extended universe. They may make that cannon in this movie. That would be interesting to see unfold.
I also want to see Han and Lando’s first meeting. Lando was in Star Wars: Rebels. I wonder if we will see any bleed-over with the plot from that. Either way, we have nothing to really go on but speculation at this point.
Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. The film is directed by Ron Howard, and will blast into theaters May 25, 2018. In the meantime, check out the latest trailer for Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, forcing its way into theaters December 15.
