Net-juu no Susume – Series Premiere Review (Is It Evil?)

Well, that was way more adorable than I thought it would be. How Evil is Netojuu no Susume‘s premiere?

Net-juu no Susume
Studio: Signal.MD
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Slice of Life

I had no idea how cute this anime was going to be. I expected a game-based rom-com following some of the tropes I have come to expect in that genre, and that it would be either okay or meh. This is another animal entirely.

The main character Moriko Morioka, is a 30-year-old self-anointed “Elite NEET,” with a gaming habit that makes mine look childish. I mean, from level 1 to 80 is a pretty good bit of playing for a single episode. She is pretty bad around people, which makes her reactions about the game pretty funny. And the one time she goes to a store in real life is absolutely hilarious. They compound the humor with Moriko’s choice to play the game as a man, which leads to some pretty funny dialogue and reactions on her part. While I have no gripes with the characters, I did find an issue with the art.

The character art was perfect, but there were some backgrounds with people frozen in movement while Moriko was still moving in the foreground. This happened one time at the store scene I mentioned earlier. It might just be a pet peeve of mine but I always find that distracting.

Overall I found this anime to be as evil as a Killer Robot Army. There are just a lot of funny moments and the characters seem pretty relatable. I hope the show continues to surprise me. It seems like it’s a good addition to this season’s anime. If you are looking for a sweet, albeit very laidback comedy, give this one a try.

Well, that’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.

Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
