Transformers – A series created to sell the Transformers toy line. Suffice it to say I grew up with Transformers. But I’m not about to review the Original Series, Armada, Prime, or even the terrible Bay-formers films. No, I’m here to see just how evil is the first episode of Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015).
For those of you that don’t know, Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015) is a direct sequel to Transformers Prime, some years after the movie. Now I’m about to rant. If you do not wish to read my rant please skip to the rating of the first episode. You have been warned.
The episode follows Bumblebee as he has a “vision” of Optimus Prime’s ghost. The ghost leads him back to Earth, where a crashed Autobot prison ship has crashed. It’s up to Bumblebee and “friends” to recapture the criminals before they muck things up worse than Bumblebee already has. The episode leaves us in a cliff hanger as one of the criminals sets off to eat a scrap yard.
The first thing you notice is the art style. The art style of this show is way below the quality of Prime. Prime was easy on my eyes, this style has way too many glowing parts and the 3D looks cheap in this style. I can forgive the art style, it’s not important. But why is Bumblebee so incompetent now? He killed Megatron in Prime’s third season so why do a couple of guards and Decepticons that were weak enough to get captured give him so much trouble? That, to me, breaks the continuity. But at least the humans will be-! Missing-In-Action. Yeah, the human allies from Prime are missing as well. This show could still be saved, this is only the first episode but it better work hard. So far I would say it’s about as evil as a Petty Criminal.
That’s all I have for you today. Thanks for letting me waste your time, people.
Keep It Classy,
Evil Bob
